For maximum flexibility and lowest cost to your group, we strongly promote the use of our vehicles with drivers nominated by you. To meet the eligibility criteria, drivers should have held a full driving licence for over two years, be aged between 21 and 70 and should provide us with details of any penalty points, convictions and any relevant medical conditions.
However, the law around whether you need a “D1″ on a driving licence to be able to drive a minibus is complicated
The simple answer is “maybe” as it depends on a range of factors. The key question is whether the driver is being paid to drive the minibus, and whether the minibus is being driven “for hire or reward”.
We’ve prepared a helpful flowchart that summarises the legal position here.
All drivers wishing to use our vehicles must also hold a valid Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) certificate. Don’t worry if you don’t have one as we offer MiDAS training at a highly subsidised rate to registered member groups.
