Each year we conduct a staff satisfaction survey, giving colleagues a stronger voice. The survey explores how people feel about their role, the organisation and how communication and dialogue might be improved. Results are shared across the organisation, with each region developing an action plan to follow up on staff feedback.
Abiola's Story
Abiola went from a volunteer to a paid position, and helps keep our Learning Centre running
'I started at HCT Group as a volunteer for three months, and then in November 2018 I was offered a job. I work in the office for the Learning Centre – I do filing, photocopying, typing – whatever is needed to keep our courses moving.
'I studied Business, Finance and Computing, but I had been out of work for a long time, raising my daughter. Because I am disabled, I decided to go to the Voluntary Centre in Hackney, and said I was looking to volunteer part time. I really enjoyed coming to the office, it gave me somewhere to go and people to see, so that I wasn’t just staying at home.
'We are always busy in the office, because people want to join our courses so we always have new students. There’s a good team, it’s been beautiful working here.
'If you’re thinking about applying for a job with us, I would say do it – you will enjoy it!'
