Free minibus loan for Hackney community groups
Any member organisation who wants to use a minibus to transport food, medicines and other supplies to vulnerable people in the community can do so – free of charge

We’ve been providing subsidised minibuses that help community groups take people to things since 1983. That’s not needed right now, what we need to do is help our community take things to people – particularly vulnerable people.
At a time of crisis, our community is pulling together to help the most vulnerable. We’re going to do our bit too. From today, any member organisation of Hackney Community Transport who wants to use a minibus to transport food, medicines and other supplies to vulnerable people in the community can do so – free of charge for the duration of the crisis. All we ask is that the vehicle is returned to us topped-up with fuel.
As drivers will be carrying supplies rather than passengers, community group volunteers can drive the minibuses themselves without going on a special course. As long as they have a driver with a valid car licence, all we need to do is a quick licence check – and then they’re ready to go.
If you're already a member who has re-registered with our new online system, please email us at [email protected] or call us on 020 7275 2414.
We'd be happy to talk to any organisation which wants to take part in the community effort to help out isolated people. If your group or organisation is not currently a member, but is helping out in the current crisis, it's really easy to join if you follow this link (or give us a call). For the duration of the crisis, we're making membership free of charge.
Also, we'd love to speak to anybody who is isn't already involved in a voluntary group but is interested in signing up with us as a volunteer to drive our vehicles to help out those in need.
