Statement concerning industrial action

CT Plus is extremely disappointed that Unite has organised a strike for tomorrow which will affect our red bus routes. We are sure that our customers will be as disappointed as we are with this action. We should like them to be aware that the trade union has rejected a pay increase of 2.25%. We think that this is a very generous offer particularly when compared to the pay awards that most Londoners have been receiving in the current economic climate. We urge Unite and its members within our workforce to reconsider their decision. Only around a quarter of our workforce have actually voted in favour of strike action.
CT Plus is part of HCT Group, one of the UK’s leading social enterprises. We are a not-for-profit group of companies that aims to reinvest the surpluses we generate back into the local communities in which we operate. We do not distribute profits to shareholders. In practice, this means that we provide much-needed support to a wide variety of people who find it difficult to use mainstream public transport and get around London. Unite’s actions have failed to consider this aspect of our activities and may also jeopardise the provision of these services.
