CT Plus drives social enterprise into Downing Street
Posted: 16 Nov 2006
CT Plus celebrated Social Enterprise Day today, (16 November), by driving social enterprise into Downing Street - at the kind invitation of the government.
We demonstrated how our non-profit making, local community focused business model provides a radical alternative to public transport provision by giving Ed Miliband, Minister for The Third Sector, a ride to remember. He jumped aboard a yellow MyBus in Downing Street (a school bus which is part of the service we provide for Metro in Wakefield and Leeds) and we were delighted to take him on a tour of London social enterprises.
"This is a very proud day for us", said Dai Powell, Chief Executive Officer of HCT, the parent social enterprise that owns and runs CT Plus and operates the MyBus service. "We were thrilled to be given the opportunity to promote social enterprise in this manner. The success of our business model, which has been underlined through our rapid growth in 2006, has shown that social enterprise has a real part to play in the delivery of effective and value adding public services. We look forward to continuing this progress in the future and expanding our contract portfolio to encompass all parts of the country."
